WHAT WE’RE SEEING
Until 11 October, Wednesday – Friday
Exhibition in the Chapel Crypt, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge
Free
Denys Lasdun (1914-2001) was one of Britain’s most highly regarded architects, making a name for himself through his commissions for the Royal National Theatre, the Royal College of Physicians, the Institute of Education as well as a number of large multiple dwelling projects in London. This on-site exhibition explores his work for Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge in the 1960s. The college is celebrating 50 years of Lasdun’s architecture through photographs, plans and models showing the ways in which his vision has been interpreted and transformed by successive architects and imaginative landscaping. The exhibition includes a short film featuring interviews with Barnabas Calder, Ted Cullinan, Joanna van Heyningen, Richard MacCormac, Christopher Pratt and Johnny Winter.
