WHAT WE’RE SEEING

Until 13 October 2013
Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House, London W1J 0BD

While the subject of this newly opened exhibition at the Royal Academy is not predominately about housing, Richard Rogers is one of the world’s most famous architects and today celebrates his 80th birthday. This retrospective spans his whole career and displays everything from his early Pompidou Centre in Paris (with Renzo Piano), Lloyd’s of London and the Law Courts in Bordeaux to the Creek Vean house in Cornwall and the Spender House. There is also a reproduction of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners’ Manufactured House in the courtyard through August until early September. This innovative, flat-packed, environmentally efficient home is an example of how new building technologies can help shape better mass housing. For more information about the exhibition, visit: The Royal Academy of Arts and catch a recently re-aired programme made in 2007 about Richard Rogers presented by Alan Yentob at: BBC iPlayer
